Torio Hills Natural Private Reserve

In order to protect and recover part of the coastal ecosystems of the province of Veraguas, Torio properties & development has created TORIO HILLS Private Natural Reserve, a wildlife refuge that includes more than 50 hectares of tropical forest and is registered in the Network of Private Reserves of Panama.
www.reservasnaturalesprivadas.org This reserve is part of the lower basin of the Torio River, an important water resource in the region where numerous streams rise and fall down the slopes forming beautiful waterfalls.
Within the reserve, there are interesting geological formations that are witness to the early formation of the Isthmus of Panama. There is a great quantity and diversity of species of flora and fauna. At this time, we are carrying out a count where more than 200 species of birds have been identified, in addition to the fact that it is common to find howler and white-faced monkeys, coatis, armadillos, deer, and ocelots.
A network of trails is also being set up for ecotourism activities through the forest and in the medium term, adequate signage will be established to generate opportunities for environmental education and interpretation with visitors.
