Our Location
Nestled between valleys and mountains, Torio is a growing seaside community on the southern coast of the Veraguas province, dubbed the “Sunset Coast of Panama” by expatriates.
Torio is located in the western part of the Azuero peninsula, in the south of the country, and its beaches are bathed by the Pacific Ocean, which creates the perfect opportunities for practicing sports and recreational activities at sea, such as fishing, snorkeling, surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, boating to nearby islands and even whale watching.
Only 315 km from Panama City and 70 km from Santiago, the capital of the province of Veraguas. It is easily accessed by a recently paved road.
The region has four important protected areas in Panama. To the north are The Wetlands of the Gulf of Montijo, declared “World Importance Site” for the preservation of seabirds by the IUCN. It consists of an extensive network of mangroves and wetlands that is a nesting and breeding site for birds and marine species of fish and mollusks of great commercial importance to the region.
To the south of Torio, at the end of the Azuero peninsula, is the Cerro Hoya National Park, which treasures some of the oldest rocks (around 60 million years old) and which bear witness to the birth of the Isthmus of Panama. This park also has an important population of Red macaws (Ara macao) and the Carato Parakeet, an endemic species of the region.
To the west is the Coiba National Park, declared a "World Heritage Site" by UNESCO, due to its spectacular landscapes and the great diversity of terrestrial and marine life.
And to the south is one of the largest marine protected areas in the world, the recently declared Cordillera de Coiba, which is about to become an important spot for international scientific research. All this natural and touristic spots are within your reach from Torio!
